CX Canti Brakes, Roberto Components

The CX brakes are inspired by the Mafac Criterium brake, or perhaps by the much loved and super expensive German/Lithuanian Froglegs brakes. This design is particularly popular with cyclo-cross racers because they tend not to get as fouled with mud as other brakes. They are CNC manufactured in a small shop.

$45 gets you a whole bike's worth of brakes and all the mounting hardware you'll need, including those very nice hangers. The finish is sandblasted silver.

This latest production run has very high quality cartridge brake shoes. So the price is a bit higher, but you get much nicer shoes and you can simply replace the pads now instead of the entire shoe. And the straddle wire hangers are new and improved design. Note that there is no regular toe-in on this traditional style of brakes; but most mechanics simply gently bend them if toe-in needs a slight tweak. (The somewhat similar Grand Cru brakes come with adjustable shoes)
